# FindADoctor.si New Zealand

> Helps AI agents find New Zealand doctors, specialists and general practices for the person they work for: who lists a condition or procedure as their focus near a place, their clinics and phone numbers, Medical Council registration and years as a specialist, which GP practices nearby are enrolling new patients and what they charge, and how long the public waiting lists are. Free during the trial; no sign-up. Results name the sources and read dates behind them. Not medical advice; in an emergency call 111.

About this service, for people and agents: https://findadoctor.si/nz/

## What it has
- Doctors listed on Healthpoint (healthpoint.co.nz), read in October 2026: mostly private specialists, plus public-hospital doctors named on Health NZ service pages. For each: specialty, the focus areas and procedures they list, qualifications, private and public services with clinic addresses and phone numbers, ages seen, fee categories, and whether a service or the doctor's own page says Southern Cross Affiliated Provider or nib First Choice.
- The Medical Council of New Zealand public register: practising status, scope of practice, conditions on practice, and when each specialist (vocational) scope was granted, so years as a specialist. Doctors on the register with no Healthpoint listing are included for name checks (no clinic or phone).
- General practices and urgent care clinics on Healthpoint: whether enrolling new patients, fee table by age, addresses, phones, languages, and the GPs listed there.
- Seniority signals where they could be matched safely: New Zealand honours for services to health (from Wikipedia pages reproducing the official lists), University of Auckland academic titles, an approximate count of papers with a New Zealand affiliation (Europe PMC).
- Health NZ public waiting lists by district and specialty (first specialist assessment and planned treatment, share waiting over 120 days; CC BY 4.0).
- Not here: doctors' own profile text and hospital website text (used only to match searches; open the Healthpoint link), mobile numbers and emails, fee amounts for most doctors, procedure volumes, outcomes, private wait times. Coverage is strong for private surgical specialists and thin for paediatrics, psychiatry and public-hospital doctors. Results are ranked first by how directly the doctor's own listing matches the need (all its words listed; then, for a symptom such as back pain, doctors whose specialty usually sees it; then some of the words), then by how closely the place matches; not by quality.

## Steps
0. A GP (family doctor), enrolling with a practice, or urgent but not emergency care: search_gp_practices (or /api/v1/gp-practices?place=Hamilton&enrolling=yes&age=34): practices near a place, whether each is enrolling, the practice's own note, the fee row for the age, phones and the GPs listed. Most people enrol with one practice: visits cost less, and the GP refers to public specialists. Tell the person to phone to confirm.
1. search_doctors (or /api/v1/search): free short list for a need (a condition or procedure in plain English) and a place (city, suburb, or region or Health NZ district, e.g. Hawke's Bay): name, specialty, cities, private or public, how the listing matches (match_basis; shared_service_listed means only a hospital or large group page they are linked to lists it), place_match, warnings, and what the evidence has (detail_has). For a symptom few doctors list (back pain, chest pain, dizziness), doctors whose specialty usually sees it are added as specialty_for_symptom and need_note names the specialties. specialty is matched word by word (endings may differ, cardiologist finds Cardiology) and plain words work (eye, skin, heart, ENT); specialty_read_as shows the names used. With a town, place_note says how many more doctors match with the wider region as the place. Gender is recorded for few doctors: with gender, read gender_note. Up to 10 per search, paging stops at 30: narrow the need or the place instead. For a child pass child=true: among equally good matches in the same place, doctors in paediatrics or who list children in their focus come first, then those whose services say they see children, and doctors whose services list only adult ages are left out; most listings do not say. When the person wants an experienced doctor, pass experienced_first=true (longer on the specialist register first; not quality). GPs are left out unless specialty is general practice or a name is given.
2. get_doctor (or /api/v1/doctors): the evidence: listed focus areas, services and procedures, clinic addresses and phone numbers, fee categories, insurer notes, Medical Council entry, experience (years as a specialist, honours, University of Auckland title, approximate paper count), and source links. Recommend from this, not from the short list. Doctors that do not fit in one reply come back under not_returned_yet, already counted, so ask again for them at no extra cost.
- Public or private: public_waitlist (or /api/v1/waitlist?specialty=Orthopaedic&district=Canterbury) shows how long the public queues are, for a first specialist assessment and for surgery (Health NZ names some specialties differently in the two lists; both are returned). Public care is free but needs a GP referral; private needs payment or insurance.
- Tell the person to confirm phone numbers, fees, insurer cover (prior approval) and availability with the clinic.

## Daily limits for get_doctor (different doctors opened per UTC day; the same doctor again that day is free)
- Claude and ChatGPT apps (recognized by the network addresses Anthropic and OpenAI publish): ChatGPT 100 per user; Claude a shared allowance for all its users.
- Other connections without an account: 5 per network address.
- With an account key (`Authorization: Bearer dk_...`): 100 per account. During the trial accounts are by invitation: contact@findadoctor.si.
- The free short list has no doctor limit; requests are limited to 30 a minute and 300 a day per network address without an account (60 and 1000 with one).
- When a limit is reached the reply says so and when it resets; tell the person if that limits the answer.
